ABOUT REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology aims to treat you as a complex being and is looking to harmonise mind and body. When we are in balance we function well and feel pain free. In the 21st Century we live in a fast-paced distracted and distracting environment. Our treatment aims to help you focus on your own experience and allow you to aid healing through rebalance. The work that starts in the treatment room between you and the practitioner, continues and develops with you, in the hours and days after. With this as your focus, the treatment can bring about relaxation and wellbeing. Though reflexology is a very powerful therapy, true healing happens slowly and gently.
Reflexology is relaxing. It is client centred and it is non-invasive. The treatment can impact the body’s response to itself and bring harmony between its various systems. This helps the mind to be put at ease and you can once again feel relaxed. Reflexology is able to promote good sleep, relieve fatigue and aches and pains. Sometimes the body just needs help in finding its equilibrium. The quiet and relaxing client-centred environment, provided by the treatment space, allows you to focus on your discomfort. The therapist is there to listen, to reflect, to support, to promote healing within the body and its system. By giving you the space and time to focus you can benefit from the self-reflective, self-healing response.
I am a member of The Federation of Holistic Therapists.
TREATMENTS
Your very first appointment will last 75 minutes, giving me time to take a brief medical history and discuss expectations before proceeding with the treatment. Please arrive a few minutes early and take a seat in the waiting room. You do not need to wear any special clothing, as long as you will be comfortable sitting in a relaxed position, for the duration of the treatment. You will need to bring your feet but if they are unavailable, reflexology can be performed on the hands too.
Please book an ‘initial’ treatment for your first visit. Subsequent appointments last 60 minutes and are listed as standard on the booking system.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AFTER
After treatment, especially your first treatment, you may experience a variety of responses to this thorough yet gentle process. Some of these will be positive and life-enhancing. But you may also experience some less positive responses. Rest assured, these too are perfectly normal when engaging with the various systems within your body, that may have been imbalanced for some time. You may feel increased energy, relief of symptoms and a change in sleep. Additionally, you may experience increases in other bodily functions, like sweating and urination as well as developing headaches, dizziness, tiredness, and cold-like symptoms. All of these responses are completely normal, will not last long and are more likely after the initial treatment.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
As reflexology is a therapy based on the relationship and focus between you and the practitioner, you carry on the work after you leave the treatment space.
It is strongly advised that you do the following in the hours immediately after the treatment:
• Listen to your body
• Drink water
• Avoid alcohol
• Avoid caffeine
• Avoid heavy meals
• Rest
• Use relaxation techniques
• Take light exercise
• Take some time for yourself
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE CONCERNED
The list of possible reactions is not comprehensive. You may experience other responses. Everybody is different.
The main thing to do is focus on yourself and note any reactions or differences you feel, be they positive or negative. You will be able to discuss these in your next session, as part of the process.
Should you become concerned about any reactions, feelings, symptoms or changes, do not hesitate to text or contact your practitioner, to discuss them. We are always happy to do this.
